Buddy punching is when one employee clocks in or out on behalf of another, making the absent person appear to be at work. It is one of the most common forms of time theft in shift-based workplaces with shared terminals. Photo capture, PINs unique to each person, biometric checks and GPS-verified mobile punches are the usual countermeasures.
