Time theftWhat it means, in plain English
Time theft is when an employee is paid for time they did not actually work, whether through inflated timesheets, extended breaks, early clock-ins or a colleague punching in on their behalf. It is rarely prosecuted as theft in the UK, but it is normally treated as a disciplinary matter and can amount to gross misconduct. Accurate clocks, geofencing and punch verification reduce it without heavy-handed surveillance.
