Rest breakWhat it means, in plain English
A rest break is the minimum time off work required by the Working Time Regulations. Adult workers are entitled to an uninterrupted 20-minute break when working more than six hours, 11 consecutive hours of rest between working days, and 24 hours off in every seven days or 48 hours in every fourteen. The 20-minute break need not be paid unless the contract says so, and workers under 18 have stronger entitlements, including a 30-minute break after four and a half hours.
